Snapdragon 8 Gen 1: The New Beginning.

During the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021, Qualcomm has officially announced its new flagship chipset Snapdragon 8 Gen1 which is the successor of Snapdragon 888.

Xiaomi 12 will be the world’s first Smartphone to have Snapdragon 8 Gen1.

Key features:-

CPU:-

Snapdragon 8 Gen1 is a 64-bit octa-core processor and is based on 4nm technology that gives better battery life. It is 20% faster performance and 30% more power saving than the previous Chipset i.e Snapdragon 888. The processor comes with an all-new Arm Cortex X-2 Prime core clocked at 3.0GHz, Arm Cortex-A710 clocked at 2.5 GHz (3x performance), and Arm Cortex-A510 efficiency cores with a base frequency of 1.80GHz (4x efficiency).

GPU:-

Snapdragon 8 Gen1 comes with Adreno GPU which can render graphics 30% faster than previous generations & is armed with 50 Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. This time, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 brings Variable Rate Shading (VRS) Pro features to provide a desktop-level volumetric rendering to deliver realistic fog, smoke, and particle effects. Thus making the gameplay ultra-smooth at the highest HDR quality graphics.

RAM and Storage:-

Snapdragon 8 Gen1 can support upto 16GB and talking about RAM speed, it can prop-up up to 3200MHZ, which is speedy system performance, and Quad-channel LPDDR5.

Camera:-

When it comes to imaging, the SoC can handle these camera setups: a single 200MP sensor, a single 84MP sensor with zero shutter lag (ZSL), a dual 64MP+36MP setup and triple 36MP sensors.

Video:-

It also supports 8K HDR with Computational HD, 8K video capture at 30fps / 4K video capture at 120fps, also supports Codec that is Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC), VP8, VP9. Slo-Mo Video Capture supports upto 720p @ 960 FPS. Color depth video capture is upto 10-bit.

Display:-

As compared to the previous version, that is the Snapdragon 888+, this time Qualcomm has not focused much on upgrading the display. It supports 4K at 60HZ (2160×3840p) and QHD+ at 144HZ (1440×3360p), and also for HDR, it supports HDR10+, HDR10, and color depth upto 10-bit.

LTE MODEM:-

Snapdragon 888 chipset has support for Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), mmWave(2×2 MIMO), 4×4 MIMO (Sub-6), Sub-6GHz(100 MHz bandwidth) and uses Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X65 5G Modem-RF System. Its maximum upload speed reaches upto 3 Gbps and maximum download speed reaches upto 10 Gbps.

Security:-

Mobile security involves protecting both business information as well as personal stored on and transmitted from smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. Thanks a lot to the advanced Secure Processing Unit (SPU) which plays a crucial role in biometrics, uses Biometric Authentication(Fingerprint, Iris, Voice, Face). It is designed to protect biometrics, data, payment information, and SIM data and also uses the Fingerprint Sensor of the Qualcomm® 3D Sonic Senor, Qualcomm® 3D Sonic Senor Max. Now You don’t have to be afraid of being unsecured.
