Snapdragon 870 – Mean version of 888 & 865+

After launching their flagship chipset Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm is back with the Snapdragon 870. This chipset is an improved version of Snapdragon 865 and 865. Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 870 processor is a fitting answer for those users who are planning to upgrade their Snapdragon 865-powered handset to an affordable-yet-more powerful Android device.

CPU:-

Snapdragon 870 is a 64-bit octa-core processor and is based on 7nm technology. The processor id based on kryo 585 CPU and comes with Arm Cortex A77 Prime core clocked at 3.2GHz, Arm Cortex A77 clocked at 2.42 GHz (3x performance) and Arm Cortex A55 efficiency cores with a base frequency of 1.8GHz (4x efficiency).

GPU:-


Snapdragon 870 comes with Qualcomm® Adreno™ 650 GPU performance which makes the 870 5G well-suited to high-end gaming applications. The GPU video playback supports with Volumetric VR video playback and 8K 360° VR video playback.

RAM and Storage:-


Snapdragon 870 supports for up to LPDDR5/4x type RAM with a maximum frequency of up to 2750 MHz. The RAM capacity of this chipset can go up to 16GB.

Camera:-


This chipset is capable of supporting 64 MP single camera and 25 MP dual cameras with multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR) and zero shutter lag (ZSL). It comes with Qualcomm® Spectra™ 480 image signal processor, Hardware accelerator for computer vision (CV-ISP).

Video:-


It supports 4K HDR with Computational HD, 8K video capture at 30fps. It supports Dolby Vision, H.265 (HEVC), HDR10+, HLG, HDR10, H.264 (AVC), VP8, VP9 Codec. Slo-Mo Video Capture supports upto 720p @ 960 FPS. Color depth video capture is upto 10-bit.

Display:-


This time Qualcomm has upgraded its display by adding 4K display at 60HZ (2160×3840p), QHD+ at 144HZ (1440×3360p), it supports HDR10+, HDR10, and color depth upto 10-bit.

Connectivity:-


Snapdragon 870 chipset has support for Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), mmWave(2×2 MIMO), Sub-6GHz(200 MHz bandwidth). However, this time 5G Modem remains the same i.e Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X55 5G Modem-RF system. Its maximum upload speed reaches upto 3 Gbps and maximum download speed reaches upto 7.5 Gbps. The fifth-generation Qualcomm AI engine and hexagon tensor accelerator along with hexagon 698 processor can deliver its user up to 15 tera operations per second (tops)

For Wi-Fi Standards, it supports Wi-Fi 6,5, 802.11a/b/g/n and Spectral Bands of 2.4GHz, 5GHz. Peak speed of wifi, it can prop-up upto 1.774 Gbps. Talking about the BlueTooth version it supports Bluetooth 5.2.
