SNAPDRAGON 690G – MIDRANGE BEAST

Snapdragon 690G Processor set to bring 5G to the Mid-Range smartphones

Qualcomm has finally launched the Snapdragon 690G processor. It will be a game-changer in the mid-range market. This new processor opens up new capabilities on budget devices including 5G connectivity. Soon we’ll see this chipset in the new Mid-range Android devices.

Why Snapdragon 690G?

Finally, this processor brings 5G connectivity at a lower price point. This new connectivity is made possible by the new X51 modem. Moreover, Qualcomm claims that the new SoC will provide a 20% performance boost compared to the older Snapdragon 675. The advantage of having this performance jump in this chipset is the capability to run 120Hz screens. This year, budget devices from Realme to Xiaomi are carrying 90Hz or higher refresh rates. Let’s directly dive into the specifications of the Snapdragon 690G, here we will be comparing 690G with its predecessor Snapdragon 675

CPU:

Snapdragon 690G is loaded with an octa-core design, featuring a 2+6 configuration containing two big Kyro 560 cores which are clocked at 2.0GHz. It is composed of two Cortex-A77 cores + six Cortex-A55 cores. unlike its predecessor “Snapdragon 675” which features 8 Kryo 460 cores (64-Bit capable) that are divided into two clusters. A fast cluster of two cores clocked at 2.0 GHz which is based on the ARM CortexA76 design and a power-efficient cluster with 1.6 GHz clock speed, based on much smaller ARM Cortex-A55 cores.

Pumped-up Performance:

Snapdragon’s Kyro 560 CPU with a complete brand-new Cortex ARM’s architecture. The 8nm processor node enables the intense performance with ultimate power efficiency. Qualcomm’s 5G power-saving provides major power efficiency improvement for better battery life.

Graphics:

Adreon 619L, offers us up to 60% faster graphics rendering compared to the SD 675.

Other Specifications:

The X51 5G modem which is integrated into the chipset supports upto 2.5GB/s download and 660Mbps upload speed. As far as the other connectivity features, the chipset supports Wi-Fi 6 via Qualcomm’s Fast Connect 6200 system, Bluetooth V5.1 and 2×2 MU-MIMO configurations. This snapdragon 690G chipset will support for 4K HDR video recording which makes this chipset. The first one to have 4K HDR recording in 600 series. Coming to the pictures, it can support up to 192MP Single and 16MP Dual Cameras. It also has Qualcomm Spectra 355L for crisp capture and noise reduction.
