Qualcomm Snapdragon 480

Snapdragon 480 is the first 400-series 5G chipset from Qualcomm. Addition of 5G technology to the 400-series could be one of the biggest factors in making the next-generation networking standards more accessible to users around the world.

So, let’s have a look at its main features.

CPU:-

Snapdragon 480 chipset is based on 8nm technology. 64-bit octa-core processor that includes one Kryo 460 Prime (Cortex-A76) clocked at 2.0GHz, one Kryo 475 Gold (Cortex-A76) clocked at 2.0GHz and six Kryo 475 Silver (Cortex-A55) clocked at 1.8GHz.

GPU:-

Snapdragon 480 comes with Adreno 619 GPU. Its Application programming interface supports Vulkan® 1.1, Open CL™ 2.0, OpenGL® ES 3.2. Qualcomm promises a 100% increase in performance of both CPU and GPU over its predecessor i.e. Snapdragon 460.

RAM and STORAGE:-

Snapdragon 480 can support upto 16GB of RAM and talking about its speed, it can prop-up upto 2133 MHz LPDDR4X type RAM. Now coming to the storage, it supports EMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1, 2.2.

Camera:-

This processor is capable of supporting 64 MP single camera and 25 MP dual cameras with multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR) and zero shutter lag (ZSL). It comes with Qualcomm Spectra 345 image signal processor – the first triple ISP in a 400-series. We can capture from all three cameras simultaneously.

Video:-

It supports 4K HDR videos at 30 FPS and Computational HD recording at 60 FPS. It supports HEVC, H.264, H.265, VP9. Slo-Mo Video Capture supports upto 720p @ 120 FPS and triple video recording prop-up upto 720p @ 30FPS. One of its main features is to increase the electronic image stabilization (EIS). For Video Software, Qualcomm uses Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering (MCTF).

Display:-

The SoC supports FHD+ at 120Hz displays with a maximum resolution of 2520×1080 pixels, HD+ at 120Hz with 900×1600 pixels and 10-bit colour depth. This is the first time Qualcomm brings 120Hz refresh rate support to its 400-series.

Connectivity:-

Snapdragon 480 SoC has support for Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), mmWave(2×2MIMO) and Sub-6GHz(100 MHz bandwidth). It uses Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X51 LTE modem. The maximum upload speed goes upto 660MBPS (5G), 210MBPS (LTE) and maximum download speed reaches upto 2.5GBPS (5G), 800MBPS (LTE). It has Dual-SIM VoLTE support and 3x20MHz downlink and 2×20 MHz uplink carrier aggregation support.

For Wi-Fi Standards, it uses 802.11a/b/g/n, 802.11ax-ready, 802.11ac Wave 2 and Spectral Bands of 2.4GHz, 5GHz. Talking about the Bluetooth, it has Bluetooth version 5.1.
