Sandes App is an instant messaging platform launched by the National Informatics Centre(NIC), Government of India. Sandes App is an alternative of Whatsapp. It requires the user’s mobile number and email ID for IOS users. This app is available in Apple Store and for Android users currently. But, this app is not available in Play Store it is only available in apk format which must be sideloaded from their website. The app is expected to give a boost to the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance India ) initiated by the Prime minister of India, Narendra Modi.

The main drawback of Sandes app is that it does not allow users to change their mobile number or email ID once signed up. If your mobile number is changed or any changes in the email ID, then you have to create a new account. Whereas in WhatsApp, even if you change your mobile number WhatsApp has a ‘change number’ feature to let you easily move from an old phone number to a new one, without deleting your profile.
Another drawback is that Sandes App uses Gmojis (just like Stamps or official communication), unlike facial emojis in Whatsapp.
Currently, there are few users who are using Sandes app. Probably you should use other messaging apps to stay in touch with those people who aren’t using Sandes, so Sandes app can’t replace Whatsapp, Signal, Telegram, etc.
