THE FUTURE OF GAMING

PS 5 (Playstation 5) officially announced its fifth series of PlayStation as “the future of gaming”. Sony planned to release PlayStation 5 in late 2020 but due to the global pandemic, they have to reschedule it. Although sony gave us hints of consoles used in PS 5. They planned the next-gen console. Sony has confirmed its dual sense controller which can be used in upcoming PlayStations. The futuristic designs of gamepad can attract lots of gamers to upgrade their gaming consoles. The gamepad also has some fantastic sounding, upgraded haptic feedback and a built-in microphone that can attract more gamers to buy it. Sony has also revealed its technical inner workings that are mentioned below.

CPU- 8-core AMD zen 2, variable frequency upto 3.5 GHz

MEMORY – 16GB GDDR6 SDRAM

STORAGE – custom 825 GB SSD

DISPLAY – HDMI: 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 1440p, 4k UHD, 8k UHD

GRAPHICS – custom AMD RDNA 2, variable frequency upto 2.23 GHz

CONTROLLER INPUT –Dualsense

After many rumours and speculation sony announced its game reveal event in June which can further be postponed due to Black Lives Matter protests in the US. Although sony officially confirms it’s re-release “in time for holiday 2020” which can be between October and December of this year. Sony keeps it’s PlayStation 5 as direct competition with windows gaming consoles which is Xbox series X. This Xbox can be released at the same time (not officially confirmed).

PlayStation 4 vs PlayStation 5

There is doubt that PS5 will have upgraded architecture and superior resolution support than compared to PS4. In all possible ways, PS5 is better than PS4. So let’s not waste time and check out the comparison between PS5 and PS4 as given below:-

CPU – Talking about the CPU performance of PlayStation 4, it was built with 8 jaguar cores with 1.6GHz of frequency and PlayStation 5 will be made up of 8 core, 16 thread, upto 3.4GHz of frequency in it that is very fast compared with the old one.

MEMORY – There is 8GB GDDR5 memory storge in PlayStation 4 but in PlayStation 5 there is 16GB GDDR6 which makes a huge difference in the performance of high graphics games smoother.

OPTICAL DRIVE – PlayStation 4 uses Blu-ray drive whereas PlayStation 5 will be using Ultra HD Blu-ray that causes a big change in video output.

GRAPHICS – Both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are made of same graphic chips ie. AMD Radeon chips.

VIDEO OUTPUT – PlayStation 4 gives 1080p resolution whereas PlayStation 5 will be providing 4k, 8k resolution upto 120Hz.

Although upgrade in gaming consoles can make a great difference to gamers that can be useful to us in upcoming generations. Let’s hope that Sony will set a release date for PlayStation 5 as soon as possible in upcoming days.
